Compassionate Body-Mind Training

  • Is it hard to care for yourself when you are struggling? 

  • Is it hard to reach out to others?

  • Do you often feel overwhelmed by strong emotions such as anxiety, anger or shame?

  • Do you tend to underestimate your ability to cope?

We have created an 8 week course that follows the brilliant 8 week Compassionate Mind Training developed by Dr Chris Irons and Dr Charlie Heriot-Maitland (2020). Our version incorporates movement and body-based practices to further understand key themes​

What?

We bring wisdom drawn from Yoga Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy together to develop our compassionate body and mind course​ because our life is stored in our body, not just our mind.

 

This course is based on the work of Professor Paul Gilbert's Compassion Focused Therapy.​

​

The course has been evaluated by Irons and Heriot-Maitland (2020) in the paper Compassionate Mind Training: An 8-week group for the general public.

Why?

Research shows that practicing compassion leads to:

 

  • Higher levels of resilience 

  • Higher levels wellbeing  

  • Lower levels of self criticism and shame

  • Lower levels of relationship insecurity

We are creating more flexibility and compassion to move back towards connection when life inevitably takes us to disconnection.

How?

Course details:

  • 8 week online live course 

  • 1 hour 30 minute sessions 

  • In-between sessions you will have access to audio recordings and videos, alongside a written handout to support your learning. 

  • This is a closed group - no new participants will be able to join once the course has started.

 

In this course you will:

  • Learn what compassion is and why we all need more of it!

  • Discover how body based practices are key to supporting our mind

  • Recognise the role of mindfulness in compassion 

  • Explore the three flows of compassion: for others, from others and for self

  • Develop, practice and embody your compassionate self

  • Bring this strength and wisdom to your daily life.  

  • Learn from each other.
